Erin Condren is my go-to planner for all things planning. I’m the biggest planner you’ll ever met and Erin Condren helps me stay on top of things. I won’t use any other planner after I jumped on the EC wagon.
Since I could remember, I have been the one always tracking a schedule or a to-do list. I was first introduced to the EC planners just as I was finishing up my college career. I was hesitant at first because I didn’t know how amazing they were. Y’all they are just as good as they seem, but better!!
After using my Erin Condren LifePlanner day in and out for 3 years, I can honestly say the photo on the front is merely icing on the cake. It’s what’s in between the covers that really counts! I came for the design, I stay for the practicality.
There are a few key features that make Erin Condren stand out heads above the competition:
Goals & Notes
There are several page layout designs to choose from when you customize your Erin Condren planner but my all-time favorite is the spread that breaks it up between morning, afternoon and evening. This years planner as a little section for notes at the bottom of each week which is helpful for content planning.
See that long column running down the left side of the planner page? EEEK! This is a list maker’s DREAM. I am totally a list maker. If I don’t write my lists then I am a frantic mess. Erin Condren saves my life for this reason along. This space is perfect for those to-do’s that you want to accomplish in the week, but don’t have a time-specific need to accomplish them. AMEN to that… I can’t use any planner for this reason alone. I haven’t found a planner to beat.
There is a similar column on the monthly view tabs which is simply perfect for those longer term to-dos! At the end of each month, I look at that column for the next month and immediately schedule those to-do’s to the appropriate week where I think I can manage them.
The Break Down
I love to choose the layout that is not time specific. As a busy teacher and blogger, I just prefer having an open slot for that time of day rather than hourly. Who knows how long things will take. It gives me flexibility in my day. Sometimes I will write times from the morning to the end of the day. However, that only occurs when I’m jammed backed. I love that the week pages are simply broken into three open spaces to allow for this.
I mentally divide the blocks into morning, afternoon, and evening but you could divide them into:
- Life roles: mom, self, work, friend, volunteer, blog
- Categories: appointments, to do list, meal plan
- Projects: school, home, work
I love the big chunks of visual white space that let the busy type A personality like myself to choose the way to organize my day the way that works for my life.
Daily Record Lines
Along the bottom of the weekly layout there are additional uncategorized lines that let you track things like:
- your meal plan for the day
- fitness goals
- to do list items
- memory of the day
- blogging deadlines/ posts
Over the years, I’ve used that spot to track what we eat (including how often we dine out), my workout plan for run training, and shopping lists for things I needed to jot down quickly. This time I purchased the wellness log, which helps me stay accountable and doesn’t get lost in the shuffle of my busy schedule.
Customizable & Personalization
As a cute and girly person that I am, I love sticking to the pink colors/ patterns. Sometimes I might do pictures because it keeps those memories alive. Recently, I’ve loved the more neutral palate and timeless prints.
But, if you’re not like me or would rather choose a shape print or quotes on the cover, Erin Condren has several adorable and fashionable options with or without your personalization.
The covers are also interchangeable! This is the best part of EC planners. I’m so the type where I get sick of the look of my planner and I want to change it up all the time. EC has the option to rotate covers by season or have one with updated photos, you can order just the cover and it snaps right into the coil binding. This will change your life! Who doesn’t love a darling cover for Christmas or Valentine’s Day? It will change your planner game, I promise.
The Sturdiness of EC…
These planners are crazy powerhouses, they will hold up to your active/busy life with no problem. The planner cover is thickly laminated, the planner binding features a thick coil wire that doesn’t unravel or hook onto things, the monthly tabs are thickly laminated and holds up like a charm. Typically, I just toss mine in my purse and backpack all the time and I never have issues. I know some debate that the planners are too thick or heavy. I would disagree big time!
Awesome Planner Extras
Extra features I love about my Erin Condren planner includes: blank lined pages at the back for general note taking; a sturdy pocket folder for holding notes, receipts, cards, etc.; a plastic zip close pouch for odds & ends; several sheets of stickers for things like birthdays, date night, game day, doctor appointments and more; and the overall color theme. You can choose the color theme to be either neutral colors or more colorful. Personally. I like the neutral color scheme because it allow me to have the freedom to add color with pens.
Planning is my life and really how I cope with anxiety. Thus, Erin Condren has so many different options for the planner in you. Whether you like more structure or if you prefer to plan vertically, each planner is truly customizable and personal to your personality. I always find it entertaining to learn how people plan. I think it tells alot about who we are as a person. What planner style do you prefer? What’s your favorite Erin Condren item from the new collection?
