A little life update … Couple of weeks ago, Colin and I went to my school’s Gala event and it was a blast. (For those who don’t know, I am a kinder teacher) This fundraising Gala brought to you by our PTA was a huge hit. They even doubled their fundraising goal! From wine to food and great auction items, my school’s PTA raised soon much money, We even hopped on the dance floor with the some of the parent’s from my Kindergarten class. Think it’s weird? not at all… our school is like a family. If you have kiddos or are a teacher, I high recommend suggesting this idea to your PTA. It’s crazy how much money was raised with just a little bit of booze in you.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Let’s chat about what I wore, since this is the fashion category of Styled by Sequins right? For starters, trying to figure out what to wear to a Gala can be a pain in the boot. You never know what the dress code is with the crowd you’re with. I took a chance with this one friends and went out of my comfort zone by wearing a jumpsuit to a Gala. Yeek… Let me tell you how I made this work & still fit in with all the ballgowns.
Finding a long dress was not something I wanted to invest my money or time into fining. Yes, you could just do Rent the Runway and call it a day, however I like to keep what I purchase. With that being said, I have the perfect solution to all you’re formal/fancy evening outfit needs!! (probably didn’t come out the way it should sound, but you get my drift…) Wearing a jumpsuit to a Gala is the NEW hot thing. I received so many compliments on this one from Nordstrom and it looked just as fancy as all the other ballgowns.
How to Fancy Up a Jumpsuit?
Make your hair and makeup look the part. AKA get it done or make it look nice if you’re doing it yourself.
Wear heels. I love these nude heels that I’m wearing because they go with everything.
Be picky on the jumpsuit fabric. The material needs to be a higher quality material to wear to a formal event. You don’t want to wear anything that’s like a t-shirt material or a casual cotton material. I would be cautious when ordering. A trick I have is to look at how the model online is wearing it. If she dresses it up with heels, then you’re good to go.
Add statement earrings or necklaces. Oh, and don’t forget a clutch to match.
Any of these jumpsuits that i’ve linked below would be the perfect thing to wear to a wedding, since it’s super ladylike and classy (while also being unexpected since it’s not a dress!). I love wedding season, we have a wedding to attend in May and I think I might be repeating this jumpsuit! Finding an outfit to wear to a wedding is the hardest because you never know the wedding vibe. Plus, you want to look nice without over doing it. I linked some more dresses & jumpsuits below that would be perfect for attending a Gala, fundraising event, fancy date night, or wedding!
Did everyone have a good weekend?!
Love from Texas,
