Behind Styled by Sequins…
Styled by Sequins has been my little baby the past 3 years and it’s been a journey for sure. Through this industry, I have grown so much and I truly take every opportunity and collaboration as a true blessing. The people and other bloggers that I have met have really shaped not only the blog, but me personally. I have learned so much since I have started, God is so good!!
Styled by Sequins blog didn’t just start right away. I knew I wanted some type of website, just didn’t know exactly what that would look like. This might sound kind of odd, but I have always loved site designing and creating something from scratch. I wasn’t sure what kind of website I wanted to create and start. I threw around the ideas of a fitness blog, teaching site, and of course fashion. After countless days and hours thinking, the idea of a fashion blog stuck with me.
Ever since I was a little girl I loved all things fashion. My mom and I would always go shopping and had the best time picking outfits out. It was a time of bonding, but little did I know it was soon to become something bigger. Crazy how some passions in life turn into a business that you never knew was possible. What’s New on the blog?
Styled by Sequins started off very small. First, I designed my website on Weebly and then switched to SquareSpace a year later. (That was a small nightmare compared to the new switch I just made). Those two website hosts are awesome for small businesses or hobbies. As I continue to grow, I learned that WordPress.org was way better. I had met with a social media/ marketing expert and a top blogging platform, (can’t disclose due to confidential matters) who all advised me that WordPress.org was the way to go if I want to continue this business. Not knowing what I was doing I took the leap of faith and made the switch. I can’t tell you how to do it because honestly I have no clue what I was doing. It’s like juggling, you can’t really teach someone how to, you just do it!
When I started switching over all I could think was, “What in the world am I getting myself into?” This site migrated was literally the death of me. I had to completely redesign my blog, hire a site creator, spend endless hours switching my content over, had countless conversations with my site host, and YouTube became the only thing I watched. It was a nightmare! To this day, I’m still learning how to navigate this WordPress thing. However, I am so happy I did what I did to make this change. I can proudly say that Styled by Sequins looks way more professional and put together than it was. Plus, now I have more opportunities with my blog, that I wouldn’t have been able to do if I were still with the other site hosts. I’m so excited to have Styled by Sequins blog launched up again in full force!
Every opportunity that has happened or will happen is truly a God thing. I couldn’t continue this blog without the Lord. He knows where this will go and I have to put my trust in Him alone. Thank you all who love Styled by Sequins and shop the looks. It truly means the word to me!
