On SBS blog, I’m sharing some tips that I have learned over the years of loving fashion. Thank you Mom for most of these… y’all she should be the creator of this blog. She’s the one who inspires me with my fashion! Anyways, I thought it would be a perfect time to talk about the nervous topic, Can you wear white on white? The simple answer is yes! Most of the time I’m a little nervous to rock it. There’s no need to be, but we all have been there. The continued feels of intimidation while wearing white on white. Let’s dip deeper and talk about some tips to wearing white on white this season.
Classic is the way to go…
When in doubt, lean on the more classier side. There’s so many darling white tops that are classy and not trashy. Point being, don’t be the girl who wears an unflattering top or a top that doesn’t work for your body type when wearing all white. White is a classy color anyway, so you need to treat it like one. With it being spring and soon to be summer time, there’s so many cute white tops out there. Red Dress Boutique, Draper James, VICI, J.Crew, LOFT and Nordstrom (just to name a few) have darling, classy white tops.
Recently I’ve been on the hunt for a white pair of jeans for spring. I love these ones from Old Navy because the distressing is the perfect amount and the price was unbeatable. I’m a skinny or straight legged jeans kind of girl just because I find them to be more flattering. The other thing about these jeans that I love is the fact that they’re high-waisted. They fit like a dream! I got my usual size for reference (4/27).
Wearing white on white can get…boring and rundown. If you leave Styled by Sequins with one piece of advice, this is it! You need to spice up your look with something juicy, like a spice of texture! Texture on a top or blouse is everything. It will make your outfit pop! Enter: this darling top and you’ll see for yourself. It’s the cutest little white top you’ll ever see. You want to add a little something-something to spice it up a bit.
If you need something more classic and not so much “spice” then go with something more simple. White tees are always a go-to in my book. You can’t go wrong with the basics. The key to adding texture to something that has no texture is to add a front knot! See now you’re following me… pure genius!
Add a slight punch of color
Adding a pop of color adds something a little more unexpected to an all white outfit. I know you’re probably thinking, “Well what’s the point then to wearing all white when you add color?” I think it adds some flare to something like an all white on white outfit. Lately, I’ve been on a gingham print kick (remember to treat a print like a color when wearing a simple outfit only ), so I was immediately drawn to this fun tote bag from Barrington Gift. Another way I pulled in a pop of color is with these darling earrings from Mustard Seed Jewelry. Mustard Seed is a favorite of my mine and they have such an inspiring mission. If you’ve found yourself nervous to rock the white on white look this Spring and Summer, I hope these tips inspire you to go for it! I will say, don’t wear white on white during these times- with children, at a crawfish boil, baseball games, or anywhere “messy” place. That will end up in a disaster.
Have a happy springy day y’all. STAY TUNED FOR FRIDAY… SUPER exciting news with Draper James!
