I cannot even tell you how thrilled I am to type those words, finally! (I’ve always wanted to be a mama!) This has by far been the hardest secret of my life to keep and I am so excited to finally share with all y’all today! We are expecting baby Hodges to arrive in early February 2020 and are feeling over the moon and so blessed to be experiencing this life-changing miracle.
So as of today I am a little over 13 weeks pregnant. We figured out really early on (I think I was about 4 weeks!), so keeping this a secret from y’all for 9ish weeks has been tough! Thank goodness we’ve shared with close family and friends already, but still it’s hard to keep it in. At the same time though, it’s been really sweet to just celebrate this pregnancy and this baby with Colin, and very close friends and family that we told our secret to.
First baby Hodges for Colin and I and we are beyond excited (Colin and I have been married for 3 years). I have no clue what to expect with pregnancy, so welcome to our journey! Thus far (knock on wood) things have been great and so easy! I didn’t really experience any nausea, only thing has been feeling hungover and super tired. Thankfully, I’ve still been able to run and workout. It’s been more difficult than normal just due to being tired, but everyday I set smalls goals to be somewhat active every day. I’ve definitely been more tired and super fatigued…but I was finishing out another Kindergarten year, and traveling so much were all in my first trimester haha.
Food aversions totally are a thing for me. I’ve been super picky with my food. My typical go-to foods like salad, vegetables and coffee I want nothing to be part of. Bagels and carbs have been my best friends. I’ve totally have had a sweet craving more than usual, so that’s been wonderful! I’ve read food aversions and cravings start to get stronger around this time so we’ll see!
We’ve had two doctor’s appointments so far – 6 weeks (which was really early on and 8 weeks. Thankfully we heard the heartbeat super early on both at week 6 and 8. Hearing the heartbeat and seeing our little baby move around is such a beautiful thing that only moms can express. We are planning to go back again around 14 weeks just because that’s when our travel schedule is over. However, the second visit is typically at 12 weeks.
I can’t believe that so much is going on inside my body and at this point, I don’t really feel a thing! To most outsiders, you’d probably say I’m not really showing yet. I sure do feel like I’m showing!! I’ve heard it’s common to not really show until 17ish weeks, so we’ll see! I can definitely tell a difference in my body though (there’s for sure a bump there in my eyes but not entirely sure if it’s baby or bloat haha). I’ll let you be the judge as I post more pics from here on out!
I have so much to tell you guys as far as things I’ve learned so far – about skincare, working out, nutrition, fear, trust and the power of prayer. But I will save those things for later posts. Today I just wanted to make the big announcement about our sweet baby coming in February of 2020. God has been so good to us throughout our whole lives, but I’ve gotta say…this miracle of pregnancy truly is the sweetest gift from God I have ever experienced.
So, what does baby mean for the blog? Don’t worry! I will continue my posts as usual – about fashion and fitness, faith, lifestyle, etc! And down the road I will definitely gauge interest from you guys to see what kind of pregnancy / baby posts you’d want to see.
